cPacket Redefines Intelligent Monitoring And Aggregation Switches By Introducing New Features To Its Cvu Product Family
Unique Technology Enables Unmatched Network Visibility, Deep Packet Inspection and Filtering, and Granular Realtime Performance Monitoring
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – May 2, 2012 – cPacket Networks has announced today a series of advanced features for its cVu product family that enable unprecedented intelligence for traffic monitoring and aggregation switches. This advanced intelligence can significantly improve the efficiency of operations teams running data centers and sophisticated networks.
Because of cPacket's exclusive hardware and software technology, the cVu family offers enhanced pervasive realtime network visibility. This includes granular performance monitoring, microburst auto-detection, and filtering of network traffic based on complete packet-and-flow-inspection or pattern matching anywhere inside the packet payload.
“The data center environment is getting faster and more complicated,” said Rony Kay, founder and CEO of cPacket. “Our goal is to deliver new levels of network intelligence and product functionality without adding any complexity. These enhancements benefit the operational efficiency of our customers and set cPacket even further ahead of any traditional aggregation products.”
Traditional aggregation switches are used to bring together traffic from multiple links across the network and feed it to downstream tools for monitoring, troubleshooting, and security. cPacket's perspective is that, given its prominent place in the network, a traffic monitoring switch can provide more advanced intelligence as a unified performance monitoring and “tool hub”.
The new cVu features facilitate this intelligent “tool hub” approach. A cVu monitoring switch can filter, balance, and forward any relevant traffic to any downstream tools as needed, provide realtime performance information, and initiate automatic alerts based on user–defined counters and triggers. In addition to the basic aggregation functionality that would be in any product in this class, the built–in intelligence provides cPacket customers a simpler–to–use and more efficient visibility into their network and applications behavior. The intelligence of the “hub” streamlines critical tasks like trouble shooting of application and performance issues, capacity planning, and microburst and bottleneck analysis –– at the same cost as aggregation products without these capabilities.
The flexibility of cVu products allows a wide variety of use cases. For example:
Over and above the traditional aggregation functionality of forwarding traffic from any input port to any output port (see www.cpacket.com for more detailed information), examples of enhanced cVu capabilities include:
cPacket can offer this unmatched flexibility in cVu traffic monitoring switches because of its patented technology that provides realtime inspection of every bit in every packet at full line rate under any traffic conditions, and delivers network visibility right where it is needed. cPacket products rely on its unique algorithmic–fabric–on–chip and novel hardware-software architecture, which deliver deterministic performance under any traffic conditions and advanced features that cannot be matched by merchant silicon. (For more information about cPacket's technology see http://cpacket.com/products.php.)
The enhanced cVu products are available now.
cPacket Networks is the emerging leader in systems and technologies for Pervasive Network Intelligence. Utilizing its unique cPacket chip and software architecture, cPacket provides network monitoring and response solutions at a fraction of the complexity, power, and cost of preexisting approaches. The exploding use of 10 Gbps networks and beyond to support a relentless growth in media–centric applications, cloud applications, and data centers makes the availability of truly pervasive network intelligence timely and critical.
